Mabroum is a variable Kufic by Yazeed Omar at Mestara Type, balancing geometric construction with curved outlines. It is a candidate for Arabic advertising and signage when a title needs a distinct silhouette. The family is still in beta, so treat a chosen version as part of your project files.

Choose the weight deliberately

The supplied 1.000 file has one weight axis, running from 100 to 800, with a default of 100. This page provides eight static preview positions while the download preserves the original variable font. Set the weight explicitly in a design application or stylesheet; the default is the lightest end of the range, not Regular.

To place its character within the Kufic collection, compare a short heading with Reem Kufi. Then compare a longer block with Noto Kufi Arabic. A useful test is whether Mabroum’s shape remains convincing when the heading wraps, rather than judging it from a single isolated word.

What this particular file covers

The actual font contains Arabic letters, vowel marks, and Arabic-Indic digits. It does not contain a Latin alphabet or Western digits 0–9. Although the foundry’s presentation lists broader script support, those characters are absent from this binary. Full Persian and Urdu coverage should not be inferred either.

For an advertising layout, assign a separate font to English text, web addresses, and Western numerals. Inter is one Latin pairing to test. Review phone numbers and mixed punctuation closely: automatic fallback can hide missing characters while introducing an unexpected typeface into the finished design.

Proof and preserve your version

The foundry warns that glyphs, spacing, and OpenType behavior may change during beta development. Keep the version used for an approved layout. Build samples with the Arabic keyboard and follow the Arabic font selection guide. The SIL OFL 1.1 permits commercial use and redistribution subject to its conditions; the original font and license are included.
