Droid Arabic Naskh

Droid Arabic Naskh is an archived screen-reading family from Google Early Access, designed by Pascal Zoghbi. It suits the comparison and maintenance of older Arabic reading interfaces rather than a search for the newest variable font.

The source describes Naskh shapes adapted for ChromeOS and Android, with increased internal heights intended to keep screen text readable. In an existing article layout, inspect several paragraphs and mixed numbers before changing the font: replacing it can alter wrapping, page length and the relationship between text and controls.

Droid Serif was its intended Latin companion. The two Arabic TTF files supplied here do not include a complete Latin alphabet or the Droid Serif family. Preserve a separate Latin font declaration when reproducing an old bilingual design. The original project is archived and should not be presented as actively maintained.

Files, weights and supported scripts

The ZIP contains 2 original TTF files, version 1.00, with the license. Available preview weights: 400, 700. The supplied source covers Arabic, Persian. It has no complete Latin alphabet; choose a separate Latin family for mixed-language text.
