Amiri Quran

Amiri Quran is the Quran-oriented member of the Amiri project. Choose it when you need to assess Quranic text in a Naskh design, with the project’s Bulaq printing heritage. It is a separate family from ordinary Amiri, so specify the complete name when sharing a document.

This version 1.003 TTF is monochrome: the delivered binary has no COLR, CPAL or SVG table, despite a color-font reference in the upstream family description. Use the actual file as the specification. A font does not authenticate Quranic wording or certify an edition; editorial verification remains a separate task.

Working with Amiri Quran

The source contains the end-of-ayah sign (U+06DD), rub el hizb (U+06DE), sajdah sign (U+06E9) and superscript alef (U+0670). Include these with stacked vowel marks in a proof page. Compare Amiri for ordinary book text and Scheherazade New for another Naskh text design. Check line spacing around the signs after PDF export, with your verified text source.

Files, styles and coverage

This package supplies one original static TTF at weight 400 in the ZIP; the web preview uses prepared WOFF2 subsets. Version: 1.003. The supplied font covers Arabic and Latin.

For commentary around a Quranic passage, compare Markazi Text’s four Naskh weights. Keep the verified Quranic text separate from the surrounding editorial hierarchy; changing fonts does not validate the wording.

License and original files

The ZIP includes the original files and the exact SIL Open Font License 1.1. Personal and commercial use are permitted under its terms. Retain the license when redistributing, respect reserved names and do not sell the font alone. See the official source for this version.
