Samim

Samim is Saber Rastikerdar’s Persian screen-text family, supplied in Regular, Medium and Bold. It includes Arabic letters and a Latin component from Open Sans.

Three weights for a compact content page

A Persian help center or an information site can provide a useful test: body paragraphs in Regular, short section labels in Medium and selected headings in Bold. Check that the hierarchy remains visible at the smallest size where you need it, instead of assigning a weight only because its number is higher.

The repository is archived, and this package fixes the 4.0.5 release. Keep that context when deciding whether to adopt it for a new design system. The default files supplied here are not the separate Persian-digit or Latin-free variants found elsewhere in the upstream distribution. Test numbers and mixed-language references using the actual original files included in this ZIP.

Files, weights and supported scripts

The ZIP contains 3 original TTF files, version 4.0.5, with the license. Available preview weights: 400, 500, 700. The supplied source covers Arabic, Persian, Latin.

Compare Almarai for another screen-reading voice and Tajawal for a different balance of Arabic and Latin labels.

For a Persian reading page rather than a multiweight screen hierarchy, inspect Ganjnameh’s single monoline Naskh. Its print-oriented guidance and absent complete Latin alphabet call for a separate final-size proof and Latin companion.

License and source

Personal and commercial use, embedding and redistribution are permitted under SIL Open Font License 1.1. Keep the included license and notices when distributing font files. The package also retains the original Latin component notices and Apache 2.0 terms. See the official Samim source.
