Erfan is a pixel Arabic and Persian typeface by Erfan Kheyrollahi. Its small block-like strokes give a short line the texture of an older computer display or retro game. Treat version 1.0 as a title-card option that needs proofing in the application you intend to use.

One Regular file, registered at weight 500

The original erfan.ttf names its style Regular while recording weight 500. This download preserves that value and includes no separate bold or italic. Adjust the visible letter height before comparing families: an identical numerical font size can make Erfan look considerably smaller than another Arabic face.

Compare Handjet when you want repeated elements with more design controls. Layla Digital provides an electronic segmented-letter alternative. Their construction differs from Erfan’s pixels, so test the full heading and any numerals instead of choosing from a single attractive character.

How the tested Arabic joining works

The font contains neither GSUB substitutions nor a GPOS positioning table. In Chrome and HarfBuzz, the tested letters still join through fallback mapping to Arabic presentation forms. The engine uses two glyphs for lam and alef rather than a single precomposed ligature. This observed fallback does not establish identical behavior in every application.

The original includes Arabic, common Persian letters, Latin, and Western, Arabic, and Persian digit sets. Vowel marks are present, but the family is not recommended for body text or vocalized passages. For video title cards, keep the wording short and inspect the compressed output. Start with the built-in Latin for a matching line, or test Inter for longer supporting details.
