Electron is a historical Arabeyes font that builds Arabic letters from repeated, digital-looking segments. Try it for a short technology poster, a game heading or a graphic label whose segmented rhythm is part of the design.

Check the gaps between segments

Start with a word containing both joined letters and dots. Compare the small gaps at the final export size: reduction can merge details that are clearly separated in a large preview. Keep longer explanatory text in a simpler face if the segmented drawing competes with the message.

Test digits and Latin captions alongside the Arabic words. Their presence in the font does not mean every character follows the same visual construction. Inter can provide plain supporting labels; compare its apparent height with Electron’s included Latin before fixing the layout. The design is not a fixed-width coding grid.

The original file and its coverage

The download supplies ae_Electron.ttf, upright weight 400, from Arabeyes 2.0. Its historical internal version remains “Glyph Systems 10-jun-93”. Metadata credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli and names Alawi Hashim Bafageeh as manufacturer; these records differ from the package number.

The file contains Arabic and Latin letters, Western and Arabic-Indic digits, and ordinary Arabic diacritical signs. Persian letters are incomplete. Connected and marked phrases were checked with HarfBuzz and Chrome, without certifying every application or Quranic composition.

Compare Layla Digital for another digital title drawing, then Rooyin Free for a pixel-based approach with two weights. Browse Arabic display families and fonts for posters and ads.

License and source files

The GPL version 2 has an exception for embedding in documents: embedding alone does not place the document under the GPL. The ZIP includes the original TTF, corresponding SFD, processing drivers and exact README/COPYING notices with Free UCS attribution.

The unchanged fsType=4 flag, “Preview & Print”, can restrict embedding in some software. See the official archive and Electron source revision. Prepare a phrase with the Arabic keyboard and follow the font installation guide.
