AlMothnna Bold is a rounded Arabic sans drawing from the historical Arabeyes collection. Its dense strokes work as a starting point for a short label, a poster heading or a wordmark study where the text needs a strong visual presence.
Use the supplied Bold style deliberately
This package contains the original ae_AlMothnna-Bold.ttf at weight 700. It does not include a Regular file. If your layout needs a lighter weight, choose a family that supplies one. Test the counters after reducing your title.
Because the strokes are substantial, compare a one-line label with a two-line heading before setting line spacing. A successful short phrase does not establish suitability for every long paragraph. For supporting Latin copy, try the included letters first, then a rounded companion such as Nunito Sans.
Historical names and coverage
The file comes from the official Arabeyes 2.0 distribution and retains the internal version “Version 1; May 22, 2003”. Metadata credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli and names Al-Amri as manufacturer. The corresponding FontForge source spells its filename Mothanna; the original TTF uses AlMothnna.
Arabic and Latin letters, Western and Arabic-Indic digits, and ordinary Arabic diacritical signs are present. The Persian alphabet is incomplete. Joined and marked phrases were checked with HarfBuzz and Chrome; test your intended software and exported document as well.
Compare Almarai if your project needs several weights, including 400 and 700. Tajawal offers a broader weight range for another proportional sans comparison. Explore modern Arabic sans families and fonts for posters and ads.
License and editable source
The GPL version 2 includes an exception for embedding in documents: embedding alone does not put the document under the GPL. The ZIP includes the original Bold TTF, corresponding SFD, processing drivers and exact README/COPYING notices with Free UCS attribution.
The original fsType=4, “Preview & Print”, flag remains and can limit embedding in some software. See the official archive and AlMothnna source revision. Prepare labels with the Arabic keyboard and follow the font installation guide.
If the layout needs lighter title strokes as well as a heavy style, compare DG Agnadeen’s seven supplied weights, from Thin 100 to Heavy 900. It offers another Arabic and basic Latin drawing; its files do not supply the letters needed for Persian.
