AlBattar gives short Arabic titles an angular drawing with sharp details at the ends of strokes. Try a compact poster heading or a wordmark study when you want a firmer structure than a flowing handwritten line.
Compare the corners, not just the darkness
Set your actual title and inspect its smallest counters and dots. The shape of a corner can disappear after reduction, while a synthetic bold can close gaps that were open in the original drawing. This download contains one designed weight, 400; it does not provide an independently drawn bold.
For Latin supporting copy, compare the included letters with Inter and adjust their apparent size separately. A useful poster pairing should preserve hierarchy rather than making both lines equally prominent.
Which AlBattar file is included?
The ZIP supplies the original ae_AlBattar.ttf from the official Arabeyes 2.0 distribution. It retains the internal string “Version 1; May 20, 2003”. That historical record is distinct from the distribution number. Metadata names Al-Amri as manufacturer and credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli.
Arabic and Latin letters, Western and Arabic-Indic digits, and ordinary Arabic diacritical signs are present. The Persian letter set is incomplete. HarfBuzz and Chrome samples checked connected forms and marked phrases; they do not establish support for Quranic composition or every design application.
Compare Hani for a more square, rectangular structure. AlManzomah takes a different route through broken angles and diagonals. Browse Arabic display families and fonts for posters and ads using the same title in each preview.
License and corresponding source
The GPL version 2 with an exception for document embedding permits use and redistribution under its conditions. Embedding alone does not put your document under the GPL. The download includes the original TTF, corresponding FontForge SFD, build and preview drivers, and exact README/COPYING notices with the Free UCS Latin attribution.
The original fsType=4 flag, “Preview & Print”, remains unchanged; some software may limit embedding despite the license. See the official Arabeyes archive and AlBattar source revision. Prepare your words with the Arabic keyboard, then follow the font installation guide.
For a rounded contrast to AlBattar’s angular strokes, compare AlMothnna Bold 700. That download supplies the actual Bold file only; use the same short label to judge its heavier curves and internal spaces.
