Hor is a historical Arabeyes font with flowing, inclined Arabic forms. Try it for an invitation heading or a short personal message when you want a looser movement than a square geometric title.
Hor is a different drawing from AlHor
Hor and AlHor have different Arabic outlines. Hor’s broader, sloping forms can be compared in the preview; this download contains only ae_Hor.ttf.
The supplied original is the upright 400 style from the official 2.0 distribution. Its internal name record says “Version 1; May 20, 2003”, which is different from the package version. Metadata credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli and names Alawi Hashim Bafageeh as manufacturer.
Keep the movement without crowding the lines
Start with your actual invitation title and leave room around the strokes. Check the second line after adding vowel marks, then inspect the exported image at the size readers will see. A heading’s handwritten appearance does not establish suitability for a long paragraph.
The file contains Arabic, Latin, Arabic-Indic and Western digits, and eight common Arabic diacritics. It lacks the full Persian letter set. Connected and marked samples were checked with HarfBuzz and Chrome; other applications still need their own test.
Compare Aref Ruqaa for a separate Ruq’ah-inspired drawing and Marhey for another lively heading. Browse Arabic handwriting families and fonts for invitations. A plain Latin companion such as Source Sans 3 can support a longer message; compare it with Hor’s included Latin before deciding.
License and original sources
The GPL version 2 with a font exception allows use and redistribution under its terms. Embedding alone does not place the document under the GPL. The ZIP includes the original TTF, corresponding FontForge SFD, official build driver and README/COPYING notices with the Free UCS Latin attribution.
The original fsType=4, “Preview & Print”, flag remains; some software may restrict embedding despite the license. See the official archive and Hor source revision. Prepare text with the Arabic keyboard and use the font installation guide.
Compare Nice from Arabeyes for a thinner, rounder invitation heading. Its lighter strokes create a different balance from Hor’s sloping forms; check the names after reduction and on the paper you intend to use.
