Pfont is a Persian-first reading typeface designed by Damoon Khanjanzadeh. It also contains the basic Arabic alphabet and common vowel marks. This download selects the original Pfont-Regular.ttf from the Beta 7 release, version 0.700, with one upright Regular 400 style.
A single Regular for a reading page
The project describes an academic reading goal, including use on Persian Wikipedia. Its moderate contrast and open shapes are worth trying on explanatory text, a reference page, or a small booklet. Start with the actual text size and line length you expect to use, rather than judging only a large heading.
For books and printed reading pages, review a complete spread and the most heavily marked paragraph. Keep enough vertical room for stacked Arabic diacritics. Only Regular is supplied here; the project’s other weights and italics are outside this download. Create hierarchy with size and spacing or choose a broader family when distinct weights are essential.
Arabic and Persian need a Latin companion
The file includes basic Arabic and Persian letters, Arabic and Persian digits, and eight common Arabic diacritics. It contains neither a Latin alphabet nor Western numerals. Select a companion such as Source Serif 4 for English words and Western numbers, then compare the apparent size and baseline in a mixed-language line.
Enter your own wording with the Arabic keyboard. Joining and marked Arabic and Persian samples were checked in the browser, but Beta 7 remains a prerelease. Review your final application and exported document before committing a long publication to it.
Compare reading voices and retain the notices
Amiri is useful when genuine Regular and Bold are needed. Farbod provides a finer print-oriented drawing. Compare the same paragraph in the Naskh collection, and use the font selection guide to assess the result.
The project explicitly publishes Pfont under SIL OFL 1.1. The download keeps the original license text and the project’s README and ABOUT notices. Keep these with any redistribution of the font; the license permits commercial use and embedding.
