Hani gives Arabic headings a square, block-like rhythm. This historical Arabeyes family is worth testing for a compact poster title or a geometric wordmark, especially when you want straight-sided shapes rather than flowing calligraphy.
A single designed weight
The download contains ae_Hani.ttf at weight 400 from the official Arabeyes 2.0 package. There is no second designed weight in this selection. Avoid relying on an application’s synthetic bold to preserve the gaps and small rectangular details.
The original metadata credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli and names Fazlur Rahman Quraishi as manufacturer. Its internal version string refers to Shmookh Computer in Riyadh and 2001; our package number, 2.0, identifies the later Arabeyes distribution instead. The original file keeps those historical names.
Test the squares at the final size
Hani contains Arabic letters, Latin characters, Arabic-Indic and Western digits, and the eight common Arabic diacritics. It lacks the full Persian letter set. Connected words and marked phrases were checked with HarfBuzz and Chrome, but you should inspect the actual title after reducing or exporting it.
Compare Reem Kufi for another geometric Arabic approach, then Layla Koufi for a different display construction. Explore Kufi families and fonts for posters and ads. For longer Latin supporting copy, try Inter alongside Hani’s included Latin and adjust their apparent sizes separately.
Source files and embedding
The GPL version 2 with a font exception permits use and redistribution under its conditions. Embedding alone does not place a document under the GPL. The download includes the original TTF, corresponding FontForge SFD, build driver and original README/COPYING notices, including the Free UCS Latin attribution.
The original fsType=4 flag means “Preview & Print”; some software may restrict embedding despite the license. This flag is unchanged. See the official Arabeyes archive and Hani source revision. Prepare a title with the Arabic keyboard and follow the font installation guide.
Compare AlBattar’s sharper title details with Hani’s square blocks. Both offer one original weight; inspect the corners and internal gaps in the real wordmark instead of judging only the overall darkness.
Compare Grafikar Zawaya Regular 400 for another rectilinear Arabic heading. This package supplies only its original Regular file; the other upstream drawings are outside the download. Judge the dots and internal spaces in the full title at its final size.
