Nice by Arabeyes: thin, rounded Arabic title lettering

Nice is an Arabeyes font with thin strokes, rounded shapes and a relaxed handwritten rhythm. Try it on a short invitation heading or a spacious graphic quotation when a heavy display face would dominate the page.

Room for a lighter drawing

Start at the size your readers will see. Fine strokes can lose presence on a compressed social image or a low-resolution print, so compare the exported result with the large preview. A dark background also changes the balance; increasing contrast does not replace checking the thin parts of the letters.

Use the included Latin for an initial bilingual mockup, then compare a plain companion such as Source Sans 3 for the longer message. Adjust apparent size and line spacing separately. Similar software sizes do not guarantee equal visual weight across the two scripts.

The historical file in this download

The ZIP supplies ae_Nice.ttf, upright weight 400, from the official Arabeyes 2.0 distribution. The internal version string, “Version 1.0 – March 2000”, is preserved. Metadata names Future Soft Egypt as manufacturer and credits regeneration to Nadim Shaikli; these historical records are distinct from the distribution number.

Arabic and Latin letters, Western and Arabic-Indic digits, and the ordinary Arabic diacritical signs are present. The Persian alphabet is incomplete. Connected and marked phrases were checked with HarfBuzz and Chrome, without establishing identical results in every application or suitability for Quranic composition.

License, sources and embedding limits

The GPL version 2 with an exception for embedding in documents allows use and redistribution under its terms. Embedding alone does not put the document under the GPL. The ZIP includes the original TTF, corresponding SFD, build and preview drivers, and the exact README/COPYING notices with Free UCS attribution.
