El Messiri is a curving Arabic display family by Mohamed Gaber, paired with Latin drawn from Jovanny Lemonad’s Philosopher. Its Arabic begins with Naskh but approaches the stroke as brush lettering rather than a traditional reed pen. Wide counters are a defining part of the design.
Try it for an editorial opening, a cultural event title or an invitation with a restrained amount of copy. Enlarge a few words to inspect the details before deciding whether the same face should carry smaller text. The current variable source runs from Regular to Bold; older descriptions mentioning a Light style do not describe an additional file in this package.
Working with El Messiri
Set a magazine opening with the real headline, deck and author name. The Philosopher-based Latin is already present, making it a useful first pairing for a bilingual title. Compare Amiri if the Arabic text needs a bookish Naskh companion; try Almarai when captions should sit quietly beneath the curved heading. Inspect small counters on the final paper stock.
Files, styles and coverage
The original source is variable. The preview provides 4 static positions at weights 400, 500, 600, 700. The ZIP keeps the original variable TTF files, including continuous weight selection in compatible applications. Version: 2.020. The supplied font covers Arabic, Latin, Persian and Urdu.
Explore posters and advertising and other display fonts. Prepare a sample with the Arabic keyboard; our guide to choosing an Arabic font covers selection and proofing.
For a cultural heading with a different calligraphic reference, compare Katibeh’s Naskh design with Thuluth influences. Contrast its outward details with El Messiri’s brush-like movement using the complete title, not isolated letters.
