Estedad is a free Arabic and Latin sans serif by Amin Abedi and Fontamin. Its Persian name means “talent,” and its compact, low-contrast design is aimed at screen and web use.
Inspect the densest component first
Try a search result, a short card and a form message before choosing a display heading. These components reveal how compact text behaves when a name or label grows longer. Check the white spaces inside letters as well as the overall line length.
The weight range runs from 100 to 900. You can establish a hierarchy within one family, but a very thin caption may still need a larger size or stronger contrast. For Persian content, include the actual characters and numerals required by the product. Start bilingual comparisons with the included Latin and adjust the apparent scale of the scripts; matching CSS sizes alone is insufficient.
Variable files and preview weights
The ZIP contains 1 original variable TTF file, version 8.5. Axis ranges, with defaults in parentheses: wght 100–900 (400). The preview supplies 9 static styles, covering weights 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900. Compatible software can select intermediate weights from the original file.
The documented coverage here is Arabic and Latin. Test actual words, vowel marks and mixed-direction lines in the application you will use. A font file cannot determine paragraph direction or replace a shaping engine.
For a Persian product label, compare Sahel’s variable 400–900 source. It lacks complete Latin and carries an upstream warning about variable mark placement; test vocalized Arabic separately before replacing an Estedad component.
License and comparison
SIL Open Font License 1.1 permits personal and commercial use, embedding and redistribution under its terms. The ZIP includes the exact license and the original files. Keep the license when redistributing the font; selling the font by itself is prohibited.
Compare Noto Sans Arabic inside the densest card in your interface, and Tajawal for repeated navigation labels. Browse modern Arabic fonts and websites and apps. Prepare a sample with the Arabic keyboard and the Arabic font selection guide. See the official source at the supplied revision.
For a denser display heading, compare Ario, formerly named Estedad Mad. The current Ario design is a separate development; its nominal Regular 400 is visually heavy and is not an extra Estedad weight.
