Sahel is Saber Rastikerdar’s Persian font. This download supplies the original variable Sahel VF, whose weight axis runs from 400 to 900; this particular file has no complete Latin alphabet.

Evaluate the variable version’s limits

A compact Persian heading or product label is a useful starting sample. Adjust the weight gradually to see where counters close at the actual display size. Do not assume the lighter static releases are present: the variable source supplied here starts at 400.

The upstream README reports mark-placement distortion in the variable version. Test vocalized Arabic words separately before considering it for educational or fully marked text. The existence of Arabic letters in the file is not a guarantee that marks will interpolate correctly. For bilingual work, choose a separate Latin face and match its apparent size instead of relying on a browser fallback.

Files, weights and supported scripts

The ZIP contains 1 original variable TTF, version 3.4.0, with the license. Available preview weights: 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900. The supplied source covers Arabic, Persian. It has no complete Latin alphabet; choose a separate Latin family for mixed-language text.

The preview uses six real static instances. The download preserves the variable file and its continuous weight axis; the default is 400.

Compare the intended use

Compare Noto Sans Arabic for interface text and Tajawal when a separate Latin alphabet within the same family matters.

If the interface needs lighter weights and included Latin, inspect Estedad’s compact 100–900 family. Its different coverage and range provide another candidate, but proof the same marks rather than assuming that changing families resolves them.

Personal and commercial use, embedding and redistribution are permitted under SIL Open Font License 1.1. Keep the included license and notices when distributing font files. The package also retains the original Latin component notices and Apache 2.0 terms. See the official Sahel source.

To compare a longer static weight range, set the same interface in AQ Normal Sans, supplied as nine original TTFs. Recheck buttons and line wrapping instead of treating the families as metric substitutes.
