Vazirmatn is a free Persian and Arabic sans serif by Saber Rastikerdar, with Latin glyphs based on Roboto. The project began as Vazir and developed toward simple text settings for websites and applications.
Check a Persian and Arabic interface separately
A shared writing system does not make the two languages interchangeable. Prepare separate samples with the characters, punctuation and numbers used in each interface. Keep language and direction settings explicit when testing mixed Latin text.
The range from 100 to 900 supports an interface hierarchy without switching families. Begin with regular text and error messages, then inspect heavy headings and small captions. The supplied variable file includes Latin characters; this ZIP does not claim to supply every special-purpose variant from the upstream project. If your product already uses Roboto, compare both scripts on screen rather than assuming that the same nominal size will align them.
Variable files and preview weights
The ZIP contains 1 original variable TTF file, version 33.003. Axis ranges, with defaults in parentheses: wght 100–900 (400). The preview supplies 9 static styles, covering weights 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900. Compatible software can select intermediate weights from the original file.
The documented coverage here is Arabic, Latin and Persian. Test actual words, vowel marks and mixed-direction lines in the application you will use. A font file cannot determine paragraph direction or replace a shaping engine.
For maintaining an existing Persian website, compare Shabnam’s five static weights derived from Vazir. Both include Roboto-based Latin, but shared origins do not establish matching metrics; inspect navigation and wrapping before substituting files.
License and comparison
SIL Open Font License 1.1 permits personal and commercial use, embedding and redistribution under its terms. The ZIP includes the exact license and the original files. Keep the license when redistributing the font; selling the font by itself is prohibited.
Compare Noto Sans Arabic for another Arabic and Persian text sample, and Almarai for the small Arabic interface labels. Browse modern Arabic fonts and websites and apps. Prepare a sample with the Arabic keyboard and the Arabic font selection guide. See the official source at the supplied revision.
