Ario is a heavy, compact Arabic, Persian, and Latin design by Mohammad Darvishi. This download uses the official Dots 1 variant, version 2.010. Although its file is labeled Regular 400, its visual weight makes it a candidate for headlines rather than dense body copy.
One Ario family, several point treatments
The project was previously called Estedad Mad. Its version 2 redesign adopted the Ario name and rebuilt the technical foundation using Arad. Those names describe its history; the older name and the alternative dot treatments should not be counted as additional families. The current package offers one Dots 1 style, preserving the original TTF.
Try a short campaign headline, a packaging label, or a bold brand word. In advertising layouts, leave enough space around the letters and review a thumbnail of the finished design. Long all-heavy paragraphs quickly lose hierarchy. Avoid applying synthetic bold: the design already has substantial black areas.
Built-in Latin and practical language limits
The file includes basic Arabic and Persian letters, a Latin alphabet, three digit sets, and common vowel marks. Start a bilingual headline with Ario’s own Latin, then use a quieter face such as Inter for supporting English copy. Test the final wording, punctuation, and numbers together rather than evaluating each script in isolation.
The official README warns that Kurdish and Urdu contextual substitutions need further testing. There is also a source metric anomaly on the extended mark U+065B. This release is not a recommendation for specialist vocalized texts or untested Urdu layouts.
Compare headline shapes before choosing
Lalezar offers another strong headline voice, while Estedad provides a more flexible family for surrounding text. Browse the display collection for alternatives. Use the Arabic keyboard to enter your phrase and the installation guide to load the TTF.
SIL OFL 1.1 permits commercial use. The supplied upstream license retains the Arad copyright and Reserved Font Name from its technical base; the unchanged TTF also contains Ario’s copyright notice. Keep both when redistributing the package.
